What Nikon label as "Normal" lenses are exactly that, standard lenses with no extra functions such as zoom, telephoto, micro or other special utilities. Nikon Normal lenses are useful tools in any photographers arsenal as they allow you to take photographs simply and easily, and Nikon Normal lenses are excellent for things such as portrait photography where it is easy to simply move closer to and further away from your subject. Nikon Normal lenses have been crafted precisely, in many respects there is nothing "normal" about them. Nikon Normal lenses come in two flavours, the 50mm f/1.4D AF and its brother, the 50mm f/1.8D AF. The speed difference coupled with the portability of the two designs allows you unparalleled flexibility from a group of lenses designed as being "normal". The f/1.8D version features 6 lens construction elements in 5 groups and is a lightweight lens at only 160 grams. The faster version features 7 lens construction elements in 6 groups and again is only 230 grams making it perfect for tucking away in your bag no matter where you are going. If you are taking your camera then you should always pack some Nikon Normal lenses and rest assured that you will capture some stunning images with them.
